The sound of Schalke

The sound of Schalke

"You had to have seen that" - a sentence that will never cross Sabrina Führer's lips. Sabrina has been blind since birth. She lets you experience Schalke with (almost) all your senses. What does Schalke sound like? What does it smell like here? How does it feel here? This tour will give you a new perspective from a guide who is not only a fan, but is also actively involved in the Schalke fan scene.

Audiowalk

1/9 Heinrich-König-Platz

Welcome to the tour "The Sound of Schalke" with Sabrina Führer. You are here in the city centre of Gelsenkirchen at Heinrich-König-Platz. Swipe to the right to start the tour directly or press play to listen to the introduction first.

2/9 Heinrich-König-Platz

Sabrina Führer has been a Schalke fan since early childhood. She experiences both football and the Schalke district in a completely different way. But it's best to hear for yourself how she introduces herself to you.

3/9 Heinrich-König-Platz

In front of the Protestant church on Heinrich-König-Platz there is a bronze plate with the city map of Gelsenkirchen. Here you can both see and feel the route of the tour. Let Sabrina take you on a journey towards Schalke.

4/9 St. Joseph's Church

Even 120 years ago, this church was a place where everyone came together under one roof. Church and football were the integration machines of the past. But today, for Sabrina, FC Schalke is even more than that - and the idea of community lives on in this building.

5/9 Grillo Square

If you want, you can close your eyes and feel the bust of Friedrich Grillo with your hands, just like Sabrina did on her first visit here. And of course, Sabrina will also tell you who this Friedrich Grillo was here.

7/9 Berlin Bridge

Open your ears! Here you can hear the unmistakable sound of Schalke - at least if you ask Sabrina. And it has a lot to do with the fact that people want to cross this bridge from Schalke North to Schalke South and back again. So: listen up!
Auf einem blauen Schild steht in weißer Schrift "Schalker Meile - Die Meile der Tradition". Es ist an einer Straßenlaterne angebracht.

8/9 Schalke Mile

This place feels very warm to Sabrina - because she has spent a lot of time here with friends from Schalke. The Schalker Meile has grown close to her heart and she herself has worked to make this place even better known.

9/9 Glückauf Stadium

The tour with Sabrina Führer ends at the famous Kampfbahn Glückauf. Her tip at the end: If you want to experience Schalke with all your senses, you have to go to the pub or at least to the bar for a cold drink. So on that note: cheers!
