50 years of Schalke 04 - half a century. This is celebrated with a big party, naturally at the Glückauf stadium. I pack my photo bag and hurry out of the house. I wonder what the club has come up with. Something really big, I'm sure. As soon as this thought crosses my mind, I suddenly stop. For a heartbeat, I stand there stiff as a statue in the middle of the street. Then I turn round and hurry home again. I need more films, that's for sure.

Breathing heavily, I arrive at the battlefield. To make up for lost time, I have to run a few metres at full sprint. I take the quickest route across the grass towards the stands. I've already heard that the youth sections want to present something on the pitch. I want to get a little further up so that I can catch everything. While the miners' band from the Consolidation colliery does a lap of the stadium, I prepare myself. At the end of the lap, the band sets up below the stands. It provides a musical accompaniment to the action on the pitch. Various youth sections line up in such a way that they form the lettering "FC S04" from above. Then they disappear back into the players' tunnel. I quickly take a photo of the future of FC Schalke 04.
